A post-graduate program student of IIM-Indore has received a job offer with a salary package of Rs.34 lakh per annum. The spokesman of the institution was not ready to divulge the details of the student. He does not even disclose the name of the company which recruited the student. The only info right now is that a post-graduate programme student of IIM Indore was offered Rs.34 lakh per annum. A total of 432 students and 142 companies participated in the campus placement programme and the average salary offered was Rs.12.1 lakh per annum.  Most of the jobs have been provided in sales and marketing sectors. A total of 29 percent jobs offered were in these sectors. 

Neha Ramu A 12-year-old Indian girl made an incredible feat by scoring an IQ score of 162, which is more than that of scientist Albert Einstein and physicist Stephen Hawking. Neha Ramu, now studying in London has made ripples all over world. Nobody tested the IQ level of Einstein (during Einstein’s period IQ test does not exist), but it is believed that Einstein has an IQ of 160 only. It is also believed that software billionaire Bill Gates and physicist Stephen Hawking also have an IQ score of 160 (they both also have not participated in Mensa IQ test).  Mensa, a British society for people with high intelligence scores, invited Neha Ramu to test her IQ as she made academic wonders by scoring 740 out of 800 on a section of SAT exam. Kerala once again has proposed a new dream plan on education and here it is for creating a global hub of knowledge which provides world class education. This new dream move is part of the Kerala Perspective plan 2030. Plan is to create framework to address the challenges faced by the education sector and to make the state a global hub of knowledge. The plan report says the state is emerge as a key player to the global knowledge network by 2030. And it is expected that Kerala will achieve a significant share of the global market in education. The perspective plan 2030 was prepared by the Delhi-based National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). This report was formed for the stating planning board. The new strategy places education at the core of sustainable prosperity. The report conceives education as a growth driving sector rather than a social sector. If you consider the graduate employability as a parameter to measure the reputation of an education institution, then Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is one among the top rank b-schools in Asia Pacific region. In a recently held research, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has ranked IIMA among the top-three business schools in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region in terms of graduate employability. IIM-A stands at the second rank position in APAC region, the report says. The report looking into the MBA graduate employability has identified London Business School, INSEAD-France and Harvard Business School as the preferred choice of international recruiters. The QS Global 200 Business Schools Report was trying to highlight the value of MBA programmes around the world according to the qualification’s end consumer: the MBA employer. 

Civil Services examination centre When the UPSC declared the results of the Civil Services Examinations in 2013, Kerala is on the cloud nine. After a long hiatus of 22 years, a Kerala-girl bagged first rank in Civil Services Examinations. Haritha V. Kumar, hailing from Trivandrum, has brought this glorious achievement to Kerala. Raju Narayana Swamy, a Kerala bureaucrat in Kerala who secured the first rank in the same examination in 1991. This time Keralites, V. Sriram and Alby John Varghese secured second and fourth ranks respectively. KOCHI: Kerala Government has taken initial steps to set up maritime institutes in the state. The Government has taken initial steps in this regard to open two such institutes in Neendakara in Kollam and Kodungallur.  Though Kochi is a major port city on the western coast of India by the Arabian Sea, Government could not consider of setting up a maritime institute until now. Commercial maritime facilities of the city include the port of Kochi, an International Container Transshipment Terminal, the Cochin Shipyard, offshore SPM of the Kochi Refineries and the Kochi Marina. After the establishment of the Vallarpadam Container Terminal, immense career opportunities are developing in the maritime sector. The institute at Neendakara will be set up in14 acres of land owned by the State Ports Department. The fourth convocation of Rajagiri Business School’s 2011-2013 PGDM batch was held at the school’s Kakkanad campus. A 16-year-old Kerala-born student in Canada has amazed experts with cutting-edge research into an experimental therapy that deploys nanoparticles of gold to kill cancer cells. Killing cancer cells using nanoparticles of gold is a fledgling technique in medical science now. By making a controversial verdict, the Supreme Court has made a whirlwind during the MBA admission season(MBA 2013-2015) this year. Supreme Court in its April 25 ruling has made it clear that the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approval was not required for conducting MBA as MBA is not a technical course. So the immediate impact of the Supreme Court verdict is that MBA colleges affiliated to Universities can run MBA courses without any permission from AICTE. At present, AICTE’s role is more significant at government universities where the council grants approvals and renewals to the programs every year, subject to the guidelines being followed.
