Manipal alumni lead Nokia and Microsoft

Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) BANGALORE (India): Two techies, who are Manipal institute of technology aluimnis (MIT) are now leading two of the top Fortune five hundred companies, Nokia and Microsoft. India-born Rajeev Suri and Satya Nadella are the two former MIT gradutaes who have been chosen lately as the top honchos of reputed global majors viz. Nokia and Microsoft. University of Agricultural Sciences to tie up with Australian centre

Bangalore (India): The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, might tie up with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Canberra, Australia. They have sent a proposal submitted to Dr Ejaz Qureshi, the research programme manager of the Agricultural Development Programme for South Asia and the Pacific seeking collaboration in natural resources management, crop improvement and agriculture business development.  The varsity is in the process of signing an MoU with the government of Monitoba. VIT signs MoU with Australian varsities

Vellore campus Chennai: Vellore Institute of Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three Universities in Australia. This MoU initiative is a part of offering joint degree programs in engineering streams. Three Australian Universities are Australian National University, Queensland University of Technology and Deakin University. The pact was signed during the VIT Chancellor Dr G Viswanathan’s recent visit to Australia. According to the MoU signed with Australian National University, VIT students opting for this program can do two years study in VIT and another two years in Australian National University. Education & Job fair in Oman Muscat: Oman Arab Bank (OAB) participated in the Career and Training Opportunities Fair 2013, held from March 11 to 13 at the Grand Hall of the Cultural Centre at Sultan Qaboos University. A view from the Education & Job fair in Oman Muscat: Hundreds of ambitious students and parents flocked to Oman's leading annual global educational and job fair, which began in the city on Tuesday. The three-day event, GHEDEX, TRAINEX and JOBEX 2014, was inaugurated by Her Highness Dr Muna bint Fahd Al Said, assistant vice-chancellor for external cooperation of the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), at the Oman International Exhibition Centre. Around 140 educational institutions from 20 countries are showcasing opportunities for Omanis and expatriates in the fair which will continue till tomorrow. It will be open from 9:30am to 1:30pm and 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Scholarships for orphans at UOW Dubai

UOWD Dubai: The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) has teamed up with Dubai Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) to provide scholarships to orphaned children. The partnership with UOWD will support young people who may not have had the best start in life by helping them pursue their higher education. The new partnership will see UOWD award full scholarships to two children in the care of AMAF on an annual basis. Alongside this, all minors supported by AMAF, as well as the Foundation’s staff, will benefit from discounted fees on any programme of study at UOWD, subject to meeting university entry criteria. Emirates Aviation University unveiled

Emirates Aviation College Dubai: Emirates Aviation College unveiled its new name, Emirates Aviation University, at the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) yesterday. This marks the first official appearance of the college’s new identity as a full-fledged university. A new campus is expected to be completed by June.   The new academic status was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. “Emirates Aviation College was already functioning as a University with its wide range of programmes and high rigour of education in multiple disciplines,” Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University, said. “This new academic title will enable us to expand our international reach and meet the changing needs of the aviation and education industries at a time when the demand for both is expanding globally,” Al Ali added.

Emirati men Dubai: Freedom is the most preferred parameter for the Emirati men while choosing places for higher education. That is why Emirati men go for private universities in Dubai as it offers maximum freedom for the students. The number of scholarships offered to Omani students by India has been raised to 150. The scholarships are offered under a bilateral assistance programme. Indian ambassador to Oman J S Mukul stated "In 2011-12, the number of scholarships under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme was only 50.
